Meet Thomas Beckworth

Thomas and his wife Karen live in Puyallup, WA, and are the proud parents of son, Matthew, and daughter, Sophia.  They love to hang out at home together, take walks with their dog, Chester, and go to the Mariners' baseball games (win or lose.)

Thomas Beckworth began in the insurance industry over 20 years ago.  His education in insurance is focused on protecting and preserving, all while growing the estates of his clients for generations to come.  Thomas is known as "the IRA Guy" because of his specific training on IRA's by the top authorities in the country, including Ed Slott, (pictured below) who is "the greatest source on IRA's in America," according to The Wall Street Journal.

At one of numerous educational symposiums Thomas had a chance to hear David Walker discuss the current state of the American budget.

Like a modern-day Paul Revere, David warns that while our country's current fiscal crisis is eerily similar to the downfall of Rome, Americans have a proven historical capacity to overcome any challenge when “We the People” wake up and get going.

David shares an engaging historical perspective that takes listeners from Rome to the Founding Fathers' original intent, and from today’s modern-day challenges to tomorrow’s opportunities. In spite of the fiscal crisis, David imparts his faith that Americans will respond with commitment to the sacrifices required to make sure that our future is better than our past.

Merry Hearts is a non-profit organization that Thomas and Karen created to give “A hand up for those in need.” Its focus is on orphans in Guatemala.

Thomas and Karen have a beautiful little girl that they adopted from Guatemala named Sophia. Unfortunately, Guatemala is no longer open for adoptions so there are many children in orphanages right now.

Merry Hearts is focused on getting assistance to Guatemalan children in need, making sure their living conditions are both up to standard and a place to grow and thrive. Thomas travels to Guatemala often to establish need and monitor results.

Since Merry Hearts is a nonprofit (Tax ID 45-3802823) that is recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3), any gifts are tax-deductible.

Climb for Kids is our annual fundraiser for Merry Hearts. Thomas climbs Mt Rainier annually for kids. Our goal is to raise $1 a foot in sponsors, which will raise $14,410.00 (Mt. Rainier is 14,410 feet). With multiple climbers, this will allow us to make a big impact in the lives of the orphans in Guatemala.

Because of the interest of Thomas’ son Matthew to climb, we’ve added “Kids Climb for Kids.” The climb is to Camp Muir, which is the first camp on Mt. Rainier at 10,200 feet. Matthew’s annual goal is to raise 20¢ per foot as his contribution to helping the kids in Guatemala.

Although there are expenses with Merry Hearts, Thomas and Karen have chosen to cover the expenses themselves through profits from Beckworth Financial Group. This allows all donations to Merry Hearts to go directly into the lives of children.

If you would like to sponsor Thomas (or Matthew) 1¢ a foot (which would be $144) for reaching the summit, or donate any amount, the Guatemalan kids we help would be much appreciative. The next Climb for Kids will happen this coming July. All gifts to Merry Hearts are tax-deductible.
